The origin story

Before Bitcoin, there was b-money

Every revolution has a first idea. For crypto, one of them was b-money — and the person behind it, Wei Dai, is woven into the DNA of the entire industry.

In 1998, a cryptographer named Wei Dai published a proposal for an anonymous, distributed electronic cash system and called it b-money. A full decade before Bitcoin, it described the idea that would go on to change money forever: a currency created and tracked by a network of participants instead of a bank — new coins minted through computational work, and ownership enforced by collective consensus.

When Satoshi Nakamoto released the Bitcoin whitepaper in 2008, the very first work it cited wasn’t a bank or an economist — it was Wei Dai’s b-money. b-money didn’t just predate Bitcoin; it helped light the fuse. And Wei Dai’s name never left: it’s stamped into Ethereum’s smallest unit and echoed in one of DeFi’s most important stablecoins.

A name woven through crypto history

  1. 1998Wei Dai publishes b-money

A cypherpunk proposes “an anonymous, distributed electronic cash system” — money created by computation and tracked by a network, not a bank. A decade before Bitcoin.

  2. 2008Satoshi cites b-money — reference [1]

The very first work referenced in the Bitcoin whitepaper is Wei Dai’s b-money. Satoshi even emails Wei Dai directly, describing Bitcoin as expanding his ideas “into a complete working system.”

  3. 2009Bitcoin goes live

Proof-of-work money — an idea b-money sketched out years earlier — becomes real and starts running.

  4. 2015Ethereum names “wei” after him

Ether’s smallest denomination is called the wei — 1 ETH = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 wei — a permanent tribute to Wei Dai baked into the world’s second-largest blockchain.

  5. 2017DAI arrives

MakerDAO launches the DAI stablecoin — widely regarded as another nod to Wei Dai and his vision of decentralized, censorship-resistant money.

This token carries that name forward. b-money — the idea that helped start it all — now pays its holders in the very thing it helped bring into the world: Bitcoin.

This section celebrates the history and lore behind the b-money name. This is a community memecoin inspired by that legacy and is not affiliated with Wei Dai, Bitcoin, Ethereum, or MakerDAO.

The mechanism

Do nothing. Earn Bitcoin.

b-money is a reflection token that pays real BTCB (Binance-Peg Bitcoin) straight to holders. Here's exactly how the yield works — all verifiable on-chain.

01

Buy & hold b-money

Hold at least 10,000 b-money in your own wallet. That's the only requirement to qualify for Bitcoin rewards.

02

Every trade feeds the BTC pool

A 1% tax on buys and 1% on sells is collected in b-money, swapped to BTCB, and sent to the rewards distributor.

03

BTCB lands in your wallet

The distributor pushes BTCB out to qualifying holders automatically — proportional to your share. No staking, no claiming, no lockups.

Note: rewards are distributed by an on-chain keeper. Payouts arrive when the distributor processes a round; very small holders may accrue between rounds. Tokens held on centralized exchanges do not qualify — hold in a wallet you control.
